MOUNT DORA — Brazilian Fredison Costa kept his winning streak alive Sunday at the seventh annual Mount Dora Half Marathon as he looks ahead to starting another streak at the Walt Disney World Marathon.
The 41-year-old won the Mount Dora race for the fifth straight year with a time of 1 hour, 9 minutes, 28 seconds.

“The race is good training for me for the Disney marathon,” said Costa, whose streak of four consecutive wins at Disney was broken this year. The next Disney marathon is Jan. 13.
Costa called the Mount Dora course along city streets, around Lake Gertrude and along the shore of Lake Dora on Lakeshore Drive “beautiful” and said the cool weather was perfect for running.

Costa, who won the $250 prize, beat Sergei Zyrianov, 34, of Gainesville by more than 2 minutes. Costa’s time was off the pace of his course record — 1 hour, 6 minutes, 54 seconds, set in 2014.
The top female finisher was Lyubov Denisova, 47, also of Gainesville, with a time of 1 hour, 22 minutes, 37 seconds.
A total of 1,547 runners registered for the half marathon and a 5K race, which took place Saturday.
